How We Compare

This page exists so you can check our work rather than take it on trust. If any of it is wrong, tell us and we will correct it and say that we did.

Where the facts come from

Every entry in the comparison comes from that provider's own live product page, read in full. Where the page links its Insurance Product Information Document or policy wording, we read those too. Nothing is taken from another comparison site, from an aggregator, or from memory.

The date each provider was last read is printed on its page and at the top of the comparison table. Facts here are dated so they are checkable.

What we do when a provider does not publish something

We print that they do not publish it. We do not infer it, average it, or carry it over from a similar provider. A blank is honest and it is also useful: a provider that will not tell you its age limits before the quote step has told you something about itself.

Why there are no prices and no rankings

Learner insurance premiums depend on your age, your postcode, the car, how long you have held the licence and the provider's own view of the risk. Any single figure we published would be somebody else's premium, and putting providers in order by it would be actively misleading.

We compare what the policies cover and exclude, which is stable, checkable, and the thing people actually get wrong.

The order providers appear in

Alphabetical by default, and re-sortable by you. No provider has paid to be listed, to be ordered, to be described a particular way, or to be left out. No provider pays us anything at all.

Where providers are the same company

We say so, on both pages. Several well-known names in this market resell the same underwriter's product, which means a learner carefully collecting three quotes can be collecting one quote three times. That is not disclosed on the comparison sites and we think it is one of the more useful things on this site.

If something here is wrong, email hello@learnersinsurance.co.uk. Corrections are made on the page and noted, with the date. We would rather be corrected than be quietly wrong.
